Bookouture continue to surprise and delight. We've now got another cover to try out. I love the frozen landscape and scandi vibe which is very much in keeping with the opening scene from the book. But who knows, those of you who bought the paperback with the old cover will now have a very unique version. if you're really into the covers, you could get both! Oh my days. DY

Bookouture fairies

Okay, it's not everyday that you get an email announcing a change of title for your first book. Names tend to get a bit welded. However, a couple of weeks ago, that's exactly what happened to me. Come out To Play is now going to be titled, The Silent Girls. I was more taken aback than concerned. But I know that the publishers have good handle on this sort of thing. And both titles work for me. So, same image different title as from now. In the meantime, we're full speed ahead for book 2. Progress update on the writing roller-coaster

All copy edits for COTP are now complete and returned to Bookouture. Quite a bit of heavy editing from a great Copy Editor who found holes where I could see none. And yes, I did throw my toys out of the pram a couple of times, but then took Betsi for a walk and all was well with the world. To be fair, this first book has been moulded out of some old and new ideas and did need quite a bit of help in terms of structure and tone. But I like it. And I hope you guys will too. I'm looking forward to you all meeting Anna and a certain Hector Shaw... Next will be proofreading and Cover reveals…

Head Down

Just sent line edits back for Book 1 and now need to concentrate on Book 2. The schedule is testing but doable. On good days I can manage 3-4000 words. on bad days, a LOT LESS. But concentrating on crime makes me think about my other manifestations, too. My fantasy series has a couple of books as yet unpublished and as for the YA/MG series, #whenwillthathappen, I hear a voice that says all in good time.
